Indonesian
At Crafers, we study Indonesian language and culture. Our program values oracy, using songs, skits and games in the early years to promote automaticity. In middle and upper years, students respond to and make films, posters and books to develop higher order understandings. All years explore our connection with our partner school, Santa Yosefa on Flores Island. Rich in culture, the study of Indonesian offers students a broader perspective and opens their minds possibility and diversity, acknowledging sameness whilst celebrating difference.
Sport
We are a very active community at Crafers Primary School! There’s always something in the works to get our students moving.
Our youngest learners develop a long-standing, positive attitude towards exercise through engaging lessons that are dedicated to fundamental movement skills and learning through play.
Our older students continue to develop social, personal and physical capabilities through movement challenges, team building and organised sports. Upper Primary School students have the opportunity to showcase their skills in a range of different school, district and state sport carnivals throughout the year.
Digital Technology
Competency in and understanding of Digital Technology is essential for our current and future generations. Not only do students learn the ‘how’ of devices, systems and software, they also learn about safety, ethics and decision making. At Crafers, students have access to iPads, laptops and desktop computers. As they progress through their primary years, they learn to engage sensibly and safely in the use digital technology helping them to understand the world and giving them opportunities to create, innovate and contribute.
Performing Arts
All students are involved with Performing Arts lessons as part of the classes offered by specialist teachers. Performing Arts develops musical knowledge, drama and performance skills. In music students concentrate on pitch, melody and rhythm. They learn songs and use percussion instruments to enhance their musical performances. Drama focusses on skills of acting and improvisation. Students learn about stage presence, facial expression and interaction with an audience. As part of their work in Performance Arts students are given the opportunity to perform in front of an audience, either as part of a major presentation or small group performances.
