Governing Council

Governing Councils work closely with the Principal to help set and monitor the strategic direction of the school, within the guidelines of the Education Department. At Crafers Primary, Governing Council meets twice a term to monitor and approve the school budget, oversee improvements in grounds and buildings, manage OSHC and involve parents/carers in fundraising and promotion activities. Each parent/carer on Governing Council brings their own perspective and skills, and everyone adds value regardless of their experience on committees. The Governing Council is most effective if the composition of parents/carers come from a range of classes and age groups are involved, and we are particularly keen to encourage Junior Primary parents/carers to get involved.

We have a number of subcommittees including:

  • Parents and Friends
  • Facilities
  • Finance
  • OSHC, and
  • The Uniform Shop

For further information please see the attached brochure.

Volunteering

At Crafers Primary School we pride ourselves on the strong sense of community that we have fostered. We always welcome new families into our school community.

There are many ways that parents and carers can be involved in the school community. The best way is to volunteer in an area that matches your interests, skills and availability.

There are many volunteering options. Some suggestions include:

  • Supporting learning and reading assistance programs in the classroom
  • Working in the canteen or uniform shop
  • Transporting students to out of school events or helping with excursions
  • Joining a school committee, e.g. fundraising or facilities
  • Joining school Governing Council
  • Helping in the library

To volunteer at the school you will need to complete online Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) and a general induction.

A Volunteer Application Form and a Volunteer Agreement is also required to be completed by each volunteer.

A Working with Children Check will also be necessary. A contact email address, your full name and date of birth is required to complete this check.

If you would like to find out more about ways to get involved in the school community please contact the Principal or front office staff. Your offer to take an active role in the school community will be warmly welcomed.

Email our friendly team to find out how you can join our vibrant volunteer community.
